OK, I am going to start expecting y'all to weigh in on my posts, so that we can have a good argument. I'm sure that we have both sides of every fence that reads mine (and if not, I know 3 people that can always argue opposite of anything). I am purposefully NOT stating anything on the "other side" so as to make a valid argument.
Here goes.
In New York, there is a building, 1 block from Ground Zero, that Muslims want to turn in to a mosque. There are several people who do NOT want this to happen. They are right. It is too close to Ground Zero and is an insult to the memory of those who died on 9/11.
Those that want to construct this mosque have no sense of propriety. This seems almost like an invasion: Islam attacks and destroys our buildings, replacing them with their own. Now, I am sure this is not the case, but the implications are too close to that appearance. Can't the Muslims see this? Don't they realize how the families of the victims must feel?
I know that it is from a different faction of Islam (which brings to mind other arguments not mentioned here) that attacked us and that the claim is that Islam is a peaceful religion, but past events and actions indicate an opposition that this claim. Now, it seems they want a mosque to celebrate their victory. Can't they choose a different location for their religious site? They claim it's not a religious site, it's an "education" site. Yeah, right. A Christian education center promotes Christianity, we all know this. No religion builds an education center that's NOT designed to promote and teach about their religion.
It seems to me that after the victims' families complained about the mosque, they would have had enough empathy to say "OK, maybe we are putting it too close. But all they can say is "We need it here because . . ." Why? Why is it so vital that they can't put it someplace else? How many Muslims are living that close to Ground Zero that they need it there? Many people travel a long distance to get to church and even longer to get to (place religion here) learning centers. Just pick a different place. This isn't religious persecution, it's emotional. It's more of a "We don't want you rubbing our noses in it." Whether it is intended or not, that is the way it seems.
So, in conclusion, I feel that the Islam learning center should not be built where it is proposed, not matter what the President says (which adds to the claims that he is secretly a Muslim).
Peace up
Charles

Four: The claim for indecency. It's a farce. Strip clubs, bars, and even an actual mosque are all in the area already. Have been there for decades, much as the Muslim community has been. To try and claim it is indecent for a group of people to renovate a building for something entirely not devoted to the threats you try to claim ( especially if it isn't even the same people being referenced ) then you are a fucking moron. There isn't anything to connect to make your claim.
ReplyDeleteFive: It's been ten years. (Nearly. ) Ten, god damned, years. People that are still sensitive and taking out their frustrations on a group of people not related to those that did them harm by killing their family and friends, is morally wrong. You need psychological help if you are having problems to this day about it, you need help. You do not need to be claiming an area is sacred and that someone cannot put something nearby. Something that you claim is an affront to those that died, but in what manner? Too emotional to see the reality in front of you? How is a place for children to play planned games, or for seminars for adults, supposed to be an affront to the memory of those lost? Because they are Muslim? That's racist/religiously intolerant, as you are then disregarding the fact there there is a separation of Muslims and Extremists that are actually at fault.
Six: It's hard to be credible with your rage, when Fox News is the one being biggest and loudest about it.. But oh wait, the president/CEO of the company funding for the new community center is also has one of the largest percentage of ownership of Fox News? Well, that can't just be a coincidence. You're all a bunch of tools.
Seven: This one is directed at you Charles. Obama, a Muslim? Really?
I had a post above it with points 1, 2, and 3. But no idea where the hell it went.
ReplyDeleteOh well. I'll retype the gist of it.
ReplyDeleteOne: It's a community center, not a mosque. It will be a place for seminars, discussions, classroom exercises, extracurricular activities and other such events or necessities. It will, on the sidenote, have a small prayer area. Christian groups do this kind of shit allllll the time. Build/renovate a building ( For those that don't realize.. It's a Burlington Coat Factory being renovated into a community center. Hardly 'building' anything. And two blocks away. )
Two: It has nothing to do with the Muslim EXTREMISTS from 9/11. This community center is for the Muslim community that has been in that section of New York for DECADES. To associated the two groups together is asinine. I don't see anyone freaking out on all Christians or other religious views when their small, off-shoot brand of extremism does a violent act such as bombing abortion clinics or murdering people. Ooooh, well the Islam Extremists took out thousands of people! Numbers don't mean anything in determining blame. That goes to specifics, which would be the extremists, not all Muslims. To claim it is all Muslims is incorrect, ignorant, and wrong. Both practically and morally. If you are attempting to make a justification for ALL muslims being at fault or somehow related, then you are not being rational. You are being racist and/or religiously intolerant. How unamerican of you.
Three: I can't remember what point three was at this time. Fuck blogspot 50% of the time.
I remember what three was about now.
ReplyDeleteConsideration. Why is it when someone asks someone else to 'take into consideration', that it means you should automatically do something? To ask the Imam to 'take into consideration' the survivors' feelings doesn't mean he should pick up and move the community center. It means he will think on it, and weigh on the issues.. But doesn't mean something HAS to be done in favor of the opposition. I'm so fucking tired of hearing this kind of logic.
The Imam admitted to weighing in on the consideration of others. And rightfully, he realized, "I had nothing to do with that shit." So he's still going to build the community center there. And fuck everyone else for not taking into consideration their rights, privileges, and ability to place their center in an area they have been just as active and tied to the community as any New Yorker.
Hypocrisy. I swear.
Totally slipped my mind. Muslims that were in the tower or helping out with the rescue efforts died as well in the attack. And now there is this coalition of people, religious of various denominations and faiths, in support of the community center with a mosque. Such hypocrisy from the right and ignorant.
ReplyDeleteOK, first thing is a request to kindy watch the language :P and for the record, I was playing devil's advocate and it appears I'm the only one willing. Do you people know how hard this is? LOL As far as Obama being muslim, I believe he is in the same manner half of the CHristians in this world are, he was born into it. The "baptise" babies when they are FAR too young to make a chaoice (and wouldn't accept their choice in the first place) and I believe that Muslims follow the same, "born into a religion" aspect. I do not follow that claim and just wanted to get that out. I will NOT continue to play the D. A. in this argument as I have other things to destroy (GOD, but Tokyo looks vulnerable right now.)
ReplyDeleteI watch my language and see no fucking problem with it. If you mean watch it for you, then it is a resounding f u. If I started to watch a certain word for one person, eventually ill get to a point where I cannot say anything. My voice is mine and I restrain it for no one.
ReplyDeleteTwo, monger of my posts are to you directly, only saying "you" in them for simplicity's sake.
Gah. That should say, "none of my posts"
